Clinical Psychology PsyD San Diego
A PRACTITIONER MODEL
The APA-accredited* Clinical Psychology PsyD Program at the San Diego campus of Alliant
International University follows a practitioner model that emphasizes the applications
of theory and research to clinical practice. The program develops competent professional
clinical psychologists skilled in delivering a variety of clinical services to diverse
populations in varied settings.
DUAL EMPHASIS: SCHOLARSHIP AND CLINICAL SKILLS
The San Diego Clinical Psychology PsyD program’s most distinctive component is its dual emphasis on clinical expertise and clinical scholarship. Our students take courses in a wide range of subjects, including
- Statistics
- Theories of personality
- Psychopathology
- Assessment
- Cultural psychology
- Integrative psychology
They also participate in a clinical dissertation group, an intensive seminar that
integrates practice and directed reading in small group format and prepares them for
the clinical dissertation requirement for graduation.
INDIVIDUAL PSYCHOTHERAPY REQUIREMENT
Forty hours of individual psychotherapy with a psychologist licensed in California are required prior to graduation.
DURATION
On average, students who progress successfully should expect to complete the San Diego PsyD program in a minimum of four to five years.
ACCREDITATION
The CSPP San Diego Clinical Psychology PsyD program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of the American Psychological Association (APA), which requires that we provide data on time to completion, program costs, internships, attrition and licensure.
